I’ve recently had several people ask me about my personal experiences with essential oils.
“Do they really work?” “It sounds like it’s for hippies…” “What do you use them for?”
So, let’s rewind a little bit. This past winter, back in January, when I was about 3 months pregnant, a friend of mine was telling me about these oils she was using. Wes and I happened to be over at their house and Wes mentioned he’d been dealing with a headache.
“Try some of my peppermint oil,” she volunteered.
After rubbing it along his temples, Wes did start to feel better, as his head was not throbbing how it had been. Coincidence?
I’ll admit, I was EXTREMELYskeptical of essential oils. I had seen all of these crazy posts all over social media, but I never saw how they helped, just that people were trying to sell them.
“Just another crazy selling fad that will vanish after a couple months,” or so I thought at the time. After about a month of hearing countless stories, as well as seeing these products personally work in my friend’s life and for her kids and husband, my friend talked me into trying them out for myself and I purchased a starter kit.
A.K.A ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASES I’VE EVER MADE.
“Do they really work?”
Before I was pregnant, I nevertook naps. Weird, I know. I just couldn’t ever fall asleep unless it was bed time. Let me tell you though, when you’re growing a human being inside of you, you can fall asleep standing up without thinking twice about it.
MEET MY BEST FRIEND, NINGXIA.
This little shot glass of red, tart liquid, when first trying, made my lips pucker.
Fast forward to today and I drink it like a child eating candy. Give me alllllllll the Ningxia, please! My husband and I both credit this wonderful stuff to my great blood levels throughout pregnancy. My doctors couldn’t believe how well my blood levels were at the end of my pregnancy. Not only that, but when you go from drinking at least 2 cups of coffee a day to none and no longer have the caffeine to boost your energy, you NEED the Ningxia!
Side story: For anyone who knows my Papa, you know the terrible condition his body was in a year ago. We’re talking, doctors calling us in to say goodbye (several times), terrible.
After stabilizing and returning home, trying countless medications and home remidies, my Nana and him were desperate to try anything that could make a difference in his health, particularly his blood. After researching and hearing that wolf berry is supposed to be good, my Nana stumbled across Ningxia (it contains wolf berry), asked me to order her some and after a week or two of using, at his next appointment, the doctor asked what he had been doing different because for the first time, his blood levels were coming up, not down. Coincidence?
The power of Ningxia, friends.
Fast forward to life with Kinsley. I could go on and on about all of the ways EO’s were great for me in pregnancy, but I was super excited to use them on Kinsley. I couldn’t wait to have an “oily baby.” Since joining Young Living, the team I was put on has countless, and I mean countless groups about the thousands of ways to use oils, their purposes, different DIY’s and my favorite, HOW to use them on babies, from newborns up!
If you’re pregnant, have a baby or one on the way, the Gentle Babies book is awesome to have on hand! You guys. Not only do I love these oils, but my sweet Baby K doesn’t go anywhere without them. I have oils for bedtime, oils for congestion, oils for teething, creams for diaper rash, Roller bottles for calming, you name it, there’s an oil for that.
What I love about the group I’m in, is I don’t have to wonder how to use an oil on my baby, or how much I should dilute it and get a million different responses from people on my timeline, instead I just ask my oily groups (who are very well educated) and they have the answers. I feel safe about using oils on Kinsley and love that I can feel confident when doing so.
A week ago, she had some major congestion, forgetting that I had an oil for that, “Snifflease,” I rubbed it on her chest, put some lavender and lemon behind her ears, a roller of Frank on her feet and diffused Thieves and RC. Within 24 hours of oiling her up, she was breathing clearly again, nose was draining for me and after 2-3 days was completely back to her happy, normal self.
SIDE NOTE: I HIT A HUGE MILESTONE THIS YEAR. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO KNEW ME THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE, I GOT BRONCHITIS AT LEAST THREE TIMES A YEAR AND STREP AT LEAST TWICE. EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR I HAVE NOT HAD ANY OF THOSE AND HAVE NOT BEEN SICK PERIOD. (THANK YOU, THIEVES!)
Not to mention, Young Living doesn’t just carry “oils,” but so many other types of household products from laundry detergent to make up. I also use their toothpaste and Thieves cleaner, too, which smells awesome, might I add. Making your own DIY’s is fun, too! I love my face toner I made at a DIY party with some friends!
I say all this not to sell you something(if you want to buy a starter kit or simply just test something before going all out though, hit me up), but because, had a friend not said something to me and shared her personal experiences, I truly believe I wouldn’t be as healthy as I am this year, nor would I have dodged the doctor several times already with Kinsley.
Let it be clearthat I’m not saying the doctor is bador that I don’t believe in medicine anymore, essential oils aren’t medicine, but they are natural and I do believe God gave us natural ways to cope and if we can avoid a visit to the doctor, even better.
Why do I use Young Living? Simply because of their Seed to Seal promise. Want to know what I’m talking about, check it out → Seed to Seal
So do they, really actually work? Are they worth the hype? I’m not someone who’s in it for the business, just for simply using them on the reg and hopefully helping friends and family out by sharing them in times of need, and I say they are. But, if you want to find out for yourself, then go for it. If you never want to try them, that’s fine, too. You do you.
But, if you do want to know more, have a question, already use oils and just want to hear what my favorites are, or simply think I’m crazy, just message me, if I don’t have an answer, I can find someone who does because I have some incredibly knowledgeable friends.
I’ve seen a lot of questions about what comes in starter kits and what the oils can be used for. Peep the picture below and those are only a FEW of the ways the starter kit oils can be used. Click on the link and you’ll see all the other goodies you get with the kit.
